The daggerboard boxes down in the
hulls look nice, especially covered with
imitation suede. I’ve even seen the lady
who tested the boat before me taking
it in her arms to cuddle. I must admit I
did it as well. All the floors are made in
sandwich with a foam core. Three stairs
up, the saloon is roomy and bright. The
table was installed on port side and 8
persons can easily have a seat. The
L-shaped kitchen, against the cockpit
wall, is pretty large and next series should
be handier. The chart table is large and
offers an optimum vision on the outside.
You can access both 40 HP engines by
the storage rooms. To get out from the
overcrowded port in Cannes, I just had to
reverse, catamaran is fantastic.
I could have sailed the Outremer for much
longer , this was one boat test that was
just too short! Whilst it was reasonably
windy we didn’t really find any negative
points. Three boats are already sold and
many steps leading o new orders are
ongoing. The Outremer 49 could be in a
great position in the market it is exactly
what families expect from a long distance
cruising boat. The boat it reminded me
of is the Catana 471 – it has many of the
same characteristics and 70 of these
were sold I ca imagine that the Outremer
49 will follow the same wake.
