Conclusion
She looks fast and fun, she is fast and fun! There are compromises when buying
this sort of boat but if they offend then buy a 920 and not this sports boat which
will deliver fun, excitement and some exhilarating sailing. The Sport version will be
a handful for some, if so then start with the Touring version and add the taller more
powerful rig later. The execution of this sportsboat is good and will sustain the
punishment racing owners are likely to give them. With the 28, unlike their other
boats they manufacture Quorning Boats is making available a powerful boat to a
wide audience and I hope that misuse of it, or inexperience does not damage their
successful brand.

at top speed. The standard fuel tank
is 12 litres which would be sufficient for
up to 5 hours motoring at 6 .5 knots
so a range of 32 miles but it would be
simple to carry more fuel to increase
range – or sail!
Being a large boat to manoeuvre in
confined space when motoring the
outboard is linked to the rudder so the
28 turns easily. A quick blast of ahead
or astern as the rudder turns kicks the
stern around shortening the turning
circle. The 28 is quite easily controlled
under power. As with any lightweight
boat there will be moments of
excitement but she motors astern well
and the 10HP engine seems sufficient
despite the strong winds we had.
