staircases and hand-painted scenes on the overheads of the main salon,
dining salon and sky lounge. An Old World canvas painting of a rustic
Italian villa was commissioned to encompass the entire outboard bulk-
head of the main deck dayhead.
In the sky lounge, neutral furnishings and carpets were offset by
dark wood and accented with warm lighting. Regal gold and hues
of rose made the dining room and main salon inviting and encour-
aged conviviality and sociability. The seating area, which includes a
custom-made sectional and plush chairs pulled from various decorat-
ing styles, exudes elegance and comfort. In contrast, the staterooms,
featuring soft, relaxing hues of buff, cream and sage, were designed
as calming sanctuaries where guests could rest and recharge after an
active day.
As with all installations of this magnitude, there were challenges.
Knowles said that of all the elements involved, the marble and granite
decorative designs were the most trying aspects of the project due to
their extreme intricacy and detail. Coordinating the installation of the
millwork and stone package and all the specialty surfaces was also a
creative challenge. In fact, when asked what the most rewarding aspect
of the project was, he told us he was thrilled at how well the stone and
wood accents all came together. Although it was a long and complex
project, made all the more significant because it was the yacht’s debut,
the end result was a tremendous success for all involved. Knowles
likes to think that the positive outcome was in some small way due to
the personal philosophy that guides him every day: “Get it done. Get
it done right.”
