Gertrude M. Cox 5k Race
The Gertrude M. Cox scholarship race
typically brings together about 100 run-
ners and walkers and about 25 dedicat-
ed volunteers. It is always a memorable
event, allowing JSM participants to enjoy
the early morning hours of a particu-
larly beautiful part of the JSM city—the
Charles River in Boston, Crissy Field in
San Francisco, Peachtree Park in Atlanta,
Lake Ontario in Toronto. The event is fes-
tive, with bagels, juice, and camaraderie
all around. The prizes range from medals
to gift certificates from local merchants.
This year is the 20th anniversary of the
Gertrude M. Cox Scholarship, and there
will be a variety of events commemorating
the milestone. The Cox fun run and walk
will be held on August 4 in the very early
