WAS ONE OF THOSE EXPERIENCES
FOREVER
the middle of nowhere, far away from my family, but a wave of loneliness came over me, what was
I doing joining a group of people I didn’t really know very well in a land I had never been to.
That feeling luckily disappeared as soon as I joined the others at a huge table where we all came to eat
most evenings. One big happy family. It was so nice being part of this group and to be included in the
ever-so-large Talamoni family.
Now to the polo, that excited feeling was already well embedded in my belly as I woke. Pulling my
boots on with the eager anticipation of 5-year-old going for her fi rst riding lesson.
The polo was well organised and ran on schedule. We got to play so many different ponies, all worked
out for us the previous evening with the help of Jules’s expert eye putting horse and rider together.
We were on horseback twice a day totalling about 5 hours. Heaven! A mixture of stick and balling,
lessons and games.
One day we took the horses for a ride around the farm en mass! The Talamoni Farm stretched beyond
the horizon, roaming families of horses in their natural environment: so beautiful.
A surge of guilt came over me that we take these amazing creatures, put them on a plane and bring

them to England and stick them in a box for our pleasure. Riding back at a fast canter I really felt like

a cowgirl on the ranch and again that excited little girl emerged… maybe it never really left at all and

going back there sometimes is just fun.

Everyday of our holiday was a just as fabulous as the previous… day by day our polo improved and
e
every day we pushed ourselves that little bit further.
I was told before I went that Argentina changes you... I came away different and as we go to print...
