TO LAUNCH TWO NEW
HOTELS IN THE UK, WITH
INTERIORS BY THIERRY
DESPONT AND FOX LINTON
Thierry Despont is designing a ‘more
contemporary’ sister hotel to The
Dorchester. Called 45 Park Lane,
the hotel will be launched in 2010
by luxury hotel brand, Dorchester
Collection, just yards away from its
legendary flagship property.
It will have 50 guestrooms including
suites and an all-day dining restaurant.
Externally, the concrete-clad façade will
be revamped to incorporate specialist
eco-friendly ‘fins’ which will diminish
solar gain to the building thereby
significantly reducing the power
required to run the air-conditioning
system.
Elsewhere in the UK, Dorchester
Collection is set to open a new 69
guestroom country house hotel,
called Coworth Park, near to Ascot
and bordering on Windsor Great
Park. The hotel, which stands in 200
acres of Surrey parkland will boast
an equestrian centre with stabling
for up to 40 horses, two polo fields
and a practice field. There will also
be an ‘eco-luxury’ spa, a bar and two
restaurants (including a fine dining
restaurant and casual restaurant with
open air terrace), and outdoor pursuits
such as archery and pitch-and-putt
golf. Fox Linton has been appointed to
manage the interior design, with EPR
as the architects.
According to CEO Christopher Cowdray,
Dorchester Collection hopes to open
15 hotels in North America and Europe
over the next five to ten years.
