CHRISTMAS AT COACHELLAVALLEY RESCUE MISSION
INDIO — In this midst of all the wonder of moving into their new facility, the staff and volunteers at the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission are looking forward to another Christmas of caring for those less fortunate in our community. With the help of generous donors CVRM gave toys to 3,500 children last year. The numbers of hurting and homeless are up by 15% so CVRM expects an even greater number of children this year.
“We have been overwhelmed this year by the goodness of the community to us at the mission. So many people have helped make the new facility possible and we know it is the community that will make it possible for us to bring a little joy and cheer to so many who are experiencing difficulty this holiday. The love and generosity they receive through this act of kindness helps lighten the burden and bring hope,” said Sandy Carroll of the mission.
The staff is requesting new unwrapped toys for boys and girls from infant to 12 years old. Some of the favorites are dolls, books, games, skateboards, sports equipment, bikes, puzzles, cars, trucks, Barbies, action figures, MP3 players, G-rated videos and DVDs.
You are invited to participate in the annual CVRM toy giveaway by bringing new unwrapped toys to 47470 Van Buren in Indio. If you can give even a single toy you will brighten the Christmas season for a child and experience the spirit of the season through the act of giving!
The mission will serve several holiday meals over the Christmas holiday to those that are homeless. In addition, they will provide food baskets to many in the community who are struggling financially. If you have questions, would like to volunteer or help with a financial donation, or for more information, please call Linda at (760) 347-3512.
