When speed is of the essence
Speed is often a critical factor affecting the installation of chemical anchors. That is why fischer
now offers two new chemical anchors which it says offer the fastest available curing times,
down to two minutes at an ambient temperature of 21ºC, as well as being able to give rapid
curing times in very low ambient temperatures.
Fischer’s FIS VW 360 S is also known as Winter Resin. As well as a rapid curing time in moderate
conditions, Winter Resin will cure in substrate temperatures down to -15ºC. This makes it ideal for
winter installations, where the job can be left shortly after installation, improving efficiency and
security on-site. The Winter Resin is styrene-free and can be used with A4 stainless steel anchors for
best results in aggressive environments.” It is available in a 360ml cartridge and is supplied with two
nozzles to enable re-use of the cartridge.
Fischer has also introduced a new fast-curing resin capsule, the FHB II-PF, to be used together with
the FHB Highbond anchor for cracked concrete.
The Highbond anchor has always had the option of being set with either an injection anchor or a
capsule, giving the end user the option to choose their preferred method of installation. The FHB II-PF
capsule is now the best option for installations where a fast-curing solution is required, since this
two-component vinyl-ester resin will cure in two minutes at an ambient temperature of 21ºC. By
comparison setting times for standard capsules are 10-45 minutes in temperatures above freezing,
but dramatically increase to 240 minutes at -5ºC.
The FHB Highbond anchor used with the FHB II-PF has a European Technical Approval at
Option 1 for use in either cracked or non-cracked concrete, and also a fire resistance of up to F120.
“These new products represent significant innovation from fischer, and offer solutions which are not
widely available from other suppliers to the UK market at this time,” says Mirka Valovicova, technical
manager at fischer. “For the first time we are able to offer a unique anchor solution which combines
the benefits of a resin anchor with the advantages of mechanical systems like expanding bolts. They
provide a real solution for installers who are working either in low ambient temperatures or on tight
deadline possession work”.
