Firmly anchored
IFTC-Indofix, Delhi
The IFTC-Indofix group was started in the 1940s by two brothers,
Mr. Kanwar Sain Gupta and the late Mr. Jiwan Lal. Initially it was
involved in trading and supplies to government agencies and
armed forces, focusing on copper nails, automotive parts and
garments/uniforms.
From 1951, it began importing and set up small/medium scale
manufacturing for light engineering parts, hand tools, bicycles and
automotive parts. In the early 1980s it diversified, representing
foreign companies in India for sophisticated and high technology
projects. Export of engineered items to Europe and America later that
decade. While Mr. Anoop Gupta, from the next generation of
management, traveled in Europe he saw various fixing systems and
decided to develop similar in India. The first plan was to produce brass
anchors, then only made by European manufacturers, but with clear
potential for large volumes. Eventually brass anchors were developed
in India at quality levels meeting European requirements but at lower
costs. IFTC-Indofix became known for the consistent quality of its brass
anchors with major European companies buying its products directly or
indirectly.
Subsequently many
more products were
developed, still with a
focus on brass
material, where IFTC-
Indofix could be more
competitive. Indofix
still regards its Spring
and Gravity Toggles as
one of the highest
quality products in the
international market.
However, the general

Anoop Gupta feels,
has considerably deteriorated to the detriment of the ultimate users.
However, he says, IFTC-Indofix will not compromise its quality.
Over the years the company has added production and export lines
for pipe fittings and the group now makes more than 800 different
items including many to customer specifications, with an additional
focus on stainless steel products. The group has facilities for supplying
a wide range of machined items including CNC turnings, forgings,
castings, sheet metal parts and wire formed products. Mr. Bharat
Gupta says, “We love to develop new items but, of course, the
volumes should justify the development and production.”
The group now has production facilities in and around New Delhi
and in Gujarat in Western India. It is keen to collaborate with foreign
customers looking to establish production bases in India. The group
also uses its trading experience to act as sourcing company on behalf
of its customers.
