Racing for Family
“When my fraternal twin brother and little sister were both diagnosed with a fatal genetic disease a little over three years ago, I knew I had to do something to help them.” – Jared Clark, age 16, Texas

Read Jared’s story about racing for his siblings and raising money for a cure at www.usatriathlon.org/kidscorner.

Diversity in Triathlon
While training for her first triathlon, Lilysa Shar, age 7 of California, did a Black History Month report on Max Fennell, the first professional African-American triathlete. What does she want other kids to know about diversity in the sport?

“I learned that there are few African-Americans doing triathlons. Max Fennell is the first black professional triathlete in the United States. Also, I would like to see more girls like me doing sprint-distance triathlons.”
