WALMART Walmart is investing heavily in its pharmacy business. In
May 2025, it opened a centralized prescription processing facility that can fill 100,000 prescriptions daily. You can get prescriptions filled in
the store or delivered to you the same day, and the prices are especially good for generic medications. Walmart offers many generic medicines for just $4 for a 30-day supply and $10 for a 90-day supply (costs vary depending

this one allows you to use your insurance. Cost Plus claims to save customers 40%-60% off the prices found at traditional pharmacies. For example, a 30-day supply of Fluoxetine (the generic for Prozac) is $5.37, compared to a retail price of $22.80. Atorvastatin is $5.26, compared to a retail price of $55.20.

AMAZON Amazon Prime members can save up to 80% on their
prescriptions, which also includes free shipping. You can save even more by joining
Amazon’s RxPass service, which costs $5 per month (plus the cost of your Prime membership). RxPass offers more than 50 generic medications for $5 per month. Unfortunately, the service is not
available in all states, and doesn’t apply to Medicaid users. Only some medications are available, so check first to see if yours is covered before paying for the service.
MAIL ORDER Mail-order pharmacies, such as those offered through
your insurance company, are often cheaper than retail pharmacies, particularly if you get a 90-day supply of your medication.

The number of adult kids living back at home peaked during the pandemic, then fell, but it is inching up again, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. While more parents may be in a financially sound position to help, it also creates a dependency loop in which kids become reliant on the financial boost, and parents sacrifice saving for retirement. An Ameriprise Financial study found that 36% of parents worry that this support could impact their own future. Experts advise that there should be an endgame in place for kids staying at home, and that they should help with household expenses.
BRIEF RESPITE If you’re one of the 5 million
borrowers with a student loan in default, you will be pleased to hear that the U.S. Department of Education is temporarily pausing involuntary wage collections, including garnishing wages and tax refunds. But the relief is only until the government can implement the repayment reform outlined in the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB). Unfortunately, interest continues to accrue on defaulted loans during the pause. You can avoid the extra charges by enrolling in the Fresh Start Program at
myeddebt.ed.gov. This temporary, one-time program reverses the default status and instantly returns the loan to good standing. Collections are then paused, and you become eligible for income-driven plans.
CREDIT LEG UP Want your kids to have a financial leg up on their credit scores? Consider making them authorized users on one of your credit cards. Researchers at Rice University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that a young adult’s credit history from being an authorized user on their parents’ cards increased their credit scores by an average of 22 to 42 points. These kids were more likely to be approved for car loans, apartment rentals, and mortgages, and to qualify for better interest rates and terms.
