TRUMP RIGHT LEADER AT RIGHT TIME Thank you for your commemorative issue on President Donald Trump’s inauguration (“The Second Shining,” January). I will treasure it and plan on keeping it for my grandchildren to read when they grow up. I truly believe this is a turning point for America, ending our slide into mediocrity, weakness, wokeism and pessimism. We are blessed to have Trump back in offi ce at this moment. I

As an Army veteran, I know that each year we had to spend all the money we had, as budgeted, or we

were told the following year our budget would be less. I was in fi eld artillery. One night we lit up the sky with illumination shells. This is just one example of wasteful spending. At least we were training. If Speaker Mike Johnson was really in the MAGA camp, he would do more to eliminate last-minute government shutdowns and at least stop 1,500- page bills in the middle of the night. The left lives in an unreal world. Reparations? Taking money away from Americans, who weren’t even around when the alleged injustices occurred, for which such damages are sought? Trans sports? MENTAL HEALTH Your November article about reducing blood pressure says diet
is a huge factor, but it is not the only one. What about mental health? Perhaps employers can make jobs and workplaces less stressful, placing less emphasis on speed, while we, as individuals, try to improve family relations and strengthen religion. Reducing blood pressure must happen with a societal awakening, working together to achieve truly healthy goals. Your article would have made even greater impact if this aspect had been discussed. PROUD HEROES In your December issue, G.L. Claxton asked, “How many in our country would be willing to stand up for our democracy?” The answer to that question is found on memorials throughout America, dedicated to our veterans. As a Vietnam veteran, a Marine, and retired police offi cer, I have, and always will, stand up for our democracy. There are millions who have served and will serve. Fear not, our democracy is alive and well protected.
