Sound Off COMMEMORATIVE • INAUGURAL • EDITION JANUARY 2025 | Newsmax.com Second Shining Te TRUMP’S ENCORE TO REMAKE AMERICA

TRUMP RIGHT LEADER AT RIGHT TIME Thank you for your commemorative issue on President Donald Trump’s inauguration (“The Second Shining,” January). I will treasure it and plan on keeping it for my grandchildren to read when they grow up. I truly believe this is a turning point for America, ending our slide into mediocrity, weakness, wokeism and pessimism. We are blessed to have Trump back in offi ce at this moment. I

believe he is the only person who can turn the page and restore this wonderful country to its full potential. If America ever falls into a mess again, I want my grandkids to know who saved their country, and what was needed to turn it around. susan magnussen Orlando, Fla.

Hooray for Trump and his second administration. If he only accomplishes a fraction of what he has promised, he will leave America a better place than under hapless Joe Biden.

reginald richards Stamford, Conn.

Trump will govern America with an ingredient sorely missing the last four years: common sense. Getting rid of ridiculous rules and regulations and DEI decisions will go a long way to making America great again. shaun preston Carlsbad, Calif.

Nobody asked me, but I’d be happy to see Canada become the 51st state, especially with Donald Trump in charge. He couldn’t possibly do any worse than the political mediocrities that are running this place into the ground with unlimited immigration and leftist economic policies. michael lewis Toronto, Ontario

As an Army veteran, I know that each year we had to spend all the money we had, as budgeted, or we

were told the following year our budget would be less. I was in fi eld artillery. One night we lit up the sky with illumination shells. This is just one example of wasteful spending. At least we were training. If Speaker Mike Johnson was really in the MAGA camp, he would do more to eliminate last-minute government shutdowns and at least stop 1,500- page bills in the middle of the night. May Trump really clean things up, and may God protect him. michael smith Chicago, Ill.

The left lives in an unreal world. Reparations? Taking money away from Americans, who weren’t even around when the alleged injustices occurred, for which such damages are sought? Trans sports? How about men being men, and women being women? This is called returning to reality. Let’s pray Trump will do just that. mathilde frahmen Minneapolis, Minn.

MENTAL HEALTH Your November article about reducing blood pressure says diet

is a huge factor, but it is not the only one. What about mental health? Perhaps employers can make jobs and workplaces less stressful, placing less emphasis on speed, while we, as individuals, try to improve family relations and strengthen religion. Reducing blood pressure must happen with a societal awakening, working together to achieve truly healthy goals. Your article would have made even greater impact if this aspect had been discussed. (“Get Your Blood Pressure Under Control,” November)

PROUD HEROES In your December issue, G.L. Claxton asked, “How many in our country would be willing to stand up for our democracy?” The answer to that question is found on memorials throughout America, dedicated to our veterans. As a Vietnam veteran, a Marine, and retired police offi cer, I have, and always will, stand up for our democracy. There are millions who have served and will serve. Fear not, our democracy is alive and well protected.

WORST PRESIDENT I’ve served under fi ve diff erent presidents in my 30 years of service to our country. As a retired military historian, I would rate Joe Biden the worst, without question. This is what Time magazine’s Man of the Year cover story should have been about. (“Bad Guys in the White House,” November)

WHOSE BATTLEFIELDS? The December issue of Newsmax magazine carried an article about saving Civil War battlefi elds, but
