I was a teenager in the 1950s. It was a good time in America, except for the fact that segregation was still the law of the land. I started first grade in 1945, exactly two days after World War II ended. One of the first things we learned was the pledge of allegiance.
I remember the day in June, 1954, that President Dwight Eisenhower signed the bill from Congress which added the words “under God” to the pledge to the flag. When I returned to school in the tenth grade, we had to relearn the pledge to say,“I pledge allegiance to

President Eisenhower believed the words “under God,” and “In God we trust” highlighted the difference between America and the Soviet Union, where atheism was the law of the land, and Christians were persecuted, imprisoned, and sometimes executed for their faith. Ten days after his inauguration, President Eisenhower was baptized into the Presbyterian Church, and became a professing Christian. He became a close friend of Billy Graham, and governed our nation as a Christian.
In 1963, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled against school sponsored prayers in the schools. This was the beginning of the spiritual decline in America. Then in 1980, the Supreme Court ruled against the Ten Commandments being posted in public school class rooms. The decline continued until it reached its apex during the four-year administration of Joe Biden.
In all the years of America's existence before the Supreme Court ruling in 1963, every American grew up under the influence of prayer and bible readings in the public schools of America. The impact of this gave us a godly national conscience, and produced “the greatest generation,” which saved the nations from Adolf Hitler and his efforts to dominate the world. At eighty-six years of age, the words of a young lady reading the scripture over the school public address system still ring in my ears;
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by

Unfortunately, no child has received such influence in the public schools in over sixty years. Even though we still say “one nation under God, indivisible…” in our pledge to the flag, the supreme court decision guaranteed that no child would receive Godly influence through the public school system. Until just recently, we have been governed at the highest level by ungodly and immoral politicians, who have never been influenced by God, therefore we are no longer “one nation under God,” and have become very “divided.”

The night before the 2020 election, I saw that the election was not between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Instead, it was between those who loved Donald Trump, and those who hated him.” The “haters” won, and as we were reminded on July 13, 2024, those who hate, can also murder. Only five days before the attempt on Donald Trump's life, President Joe Biden had said “It's time to put Trump in a bullseye.” It is commonly accepted that Joe Biden's rhetoric was not actually calling for Trump's assassination, but in a nation that is no longer “under God,” but almost equally divided between love and hatred for president Trump, such language can easily reach the ears of a “hater;” one who is willing to fulfil his hatred with murder. Jesus taught that hatred is equal to murder. The Apostle John wrote, “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.” I John 3:15
America is on a precipice of disaster. According to the last day prophecies of the Bible, those whom the scriptures call “locusts” have been swarming worldwide for the past twenty five years, and especially into America. Revelation 9:1-12. The next event on the prophetic calendar is called the “sixth trumpet,” with will bring the deaths of one third of all living on earth. World War III? Nuclear war? We do not know. Is all hope gone? Absolutely not, if you are one who trusts in Jesus Christ. To those, the scripture says the locusts have no power to hurt, but “only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads” Revelation 9:4. Do you belong to Jesus? Do you trust in Him? Can you truthfully say, “In God we trust”?
