Each June in conjunction with Father’s Day, we
celebrate men. As complicated as it may be at times to live with them, we women know they are a necessary ingredient in our lives—whether they be friends, husbands, fathers, grandfathers or mentors. Whatever the male role in our lives, we need to encourage all men who we love to take care of themselves. So oſt en they give too little thought to their own health care.
I am especially grateful to my father Rod Jones. In awe of
all that he has accomplished over the years, he is my hero. One of the best qualities I early learned from him is the meaning and benefi ts of hard work. It’s made a diff erence in every forward step and success I have enjoyed.
Painted by him, this cover art is especially meaningful
to me. It is the Monhegan Island Lighthouse (off the coast of Maine) where my parents and I visited in 1999. T ere were no cars allowed and wi-fi did not exist—just lots of hiking and relaxing, and many opportunities to watch master painters at work along the trails or on the rocky shoreline. T is was an inspirational vacation I will never forget.
A few months later in 2000, together we launched Natural Awakenings. We are now completing our 18th
year
with hopes for continuing to make a healthy diff erence in the lives of all who enjoy this magazine. To you—both readers and advertisers—we extend our heartfelt thanks for your input, loyalty and support. We would not be here without you.
