Citigroup attempts to claw back
$500m in Revlon payment error US Citigroup has once again argued its case that Revlon lenders who received approximately US$500m in error last year should have to repay the money, Bloomberg reports. In a Manhattan appeals court, the bank asked federal judges to reverse the decision made by a lower court in February. That court ruled that the disgruntled lenders, who were owed money by the cosmetics company for its 2016 term loan, could keep
the accidentally-wired funds. Citigroup maintains that recipients of the payments should have seen red flags as they never received formal notice of repayment.
The lenders’ representative, Kathleen Sullivan, is reported to have said: “It would have been unreasonable to think this was an unprecedented mistake by a bank like Citibank.
“It would have been borderline irrational.” Back in August 2020,

Citigroup managed to claw back just under half itself, however, the outstanding $500m is still with lenders.
Beiersdorf recalls 5 Coppertone sunscreens over benzene discovery
been directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, best known for his Pusher film trilogy, and captured by photographer Valentin Herfray.
US Beiersdorf has recalled some of its latest Coppertone sunscreen launches, including products targeted at children, after discovering the presence of the carcinogenic chemical benzene. The products affected include Pure & Simple SPF 50 Spray and Sport Mineral SPF 50 Spray, both launched in 2021, and Travel-Size Coppertone Sport Spray SPF 50. The voluntary recall affects specific lots of five spray products manufactured between 10 January-15 June 2021, distributed in the US through various retailers. Benzene is known to cause cancers, including leukaemia and blood cancer of the bone marrow, the FDA stated in its recall notice. However, the level of benzene in the affected products would “not be expected to cause adverse health consequences based on... exposure modelling”.
