Having worked in the fire industry for over a decade, Russell specialises in fire detection and suppression
systems for industrial risks. He has been involved in the design and manufacture of solutions for domestic and residential applications, renewables, data and telecommunications, the food industry and manufacturing. For the past three years, he has focused on waste and recycling and its associated power generation applications, and helped to set up Fire Shield Systems Ltd earlier this year, where he is technical director.

Andy has worked in the UK organics and alternative fuels sectors for more than 13 years, nine of which
were at SUEZ UK, building its alternative fuels business. His main focus was on the commercial development of alternative fuels for the wood, refuse derived fuel and solid recovered fuels markets. Andy then set up consultancy business Cynosure Partners, offering support services and development work for companies involved in alternative fuels, with a particular emphasis on emerging markets. He is also chairman of the Wood Recyclers’ Association, which represents both UK producers and European energy and panelboard consumers.

Adair is a technical consultant at the FPA. One of the first engineers to achieve recognition on both the
life safety and property protection streams of the Institution of Fire Engineers’ Register of Fire Risk Assessors, he wrote The Prevention and Control of Arson and cowrote Fire Risk Management in the Workplace. He has contributed to many other FPA publications, and assisted in the drafting of several Home Office and HSE guidance documents.

and senior officer with London Fire Brigade. As a qualified fire engineer, he led teams that designed and delivered the WISH (Waste Industries Safety and Health) real fire test programme. Joining IFC in 2015 as a senior fire engineer, he helps clients in the waste sector develop bespoke solutions – and still provides technical advice to WISH and the NFCC. Angus is now developing solutions for built environments in waste, and advises clients on solutions for industrial and residential applications.

Adrian qualified with his engineering degree in 1984, then joined the insurance industry as a risk engineer
with FM Global in 1988. His experience there and subsequently in industry with the BOC Group has given him a broad background in property risk management and fire suppression systems. Since joining QBE in 2009, in his role of delivering risk solutions advice to clients, he has worked with a wide range of industries including heavy manufacturing, high tech, food and beverage, waste handling and logistics.

Previously working for independent insurance brokers in Oxfordshire, he has a range of knowledge of the risk management and insurance sector.
