Building planning Security importance

Security is one of the most important factors for potential customers, with enquiries on this subject steadily increasing year on year. In response to this demand, automatic lighting, smoke detectors, safety switches, video monitoring and door communication systems can be designed and manufactured to increase building security – but with 21st century intelligence. Flexible solutions have also been

developed that work both inside and out, acting as additional security barriers for a building. For example, automatic light control or door communication help to prevent unauthorised access or to monitor entrances and areas that are not easily visible via video function. Gira has developed application possibilities

specific to the enrichment and continued development of home security systems. For instance, various scenarios can be simulated in which a home actually mimics patterns of habitation. This is ideal when planning a long holiday, business trip or when the property is a second home. Features might include opening the blinds or turning on the lights, TV or music. Combining form and function is key to

making lives safer, easier and more convenient. Statistics show that illuminated and/or lived in properties are less likely to be burgled; however, consumers also give special importance to high levels of functionality, reliability and lasting aesthetic appeal.

Fire safety

Fire deaths are frequently caused by smoke rather than the flames. Smoke often surprises people in their sleep when they cannot perceive a possible build up of odour. Depending on the materials burning, this smoke can be very toxic and, in extreme cases, fatal after a single breath. In addition, smoke contains so called

corrosive particles which erode the lungs and airways, and victims who do not perish can nevertheless be left with lifelong brain damage. Smoke damage to building structure and furniture can also be enormous.
