EDITORIAL VIEWPOINT
WITH the fi rst of the 2019’s big expo shows already under our belts, it’s clear that, beneath all the innovations, product launches and promotions, it’s still the people that make the industry tick. Whether it’s at a consumer show or a trade show, it's still invaluable to be able to network, talk to the suppliers face-to-face and seal a deal with a handshake.
It was a real pleasure to meet so many people at Toolfair’s fi rst spring show of the year at Alexandra Palace, and at The Executive Hire Show 2019 in Coventry. I was keen to take the temperature of the industry and fi nd out, not only what was new, but what issues and topics were causing a buzz.
by RICHARD HOLLIS, Editor 3
I had several conversations across the two shows about ecological concerns, competition from online sellers and keeping our expensive equipment safe from opportunistic thieves. These all might seem insurmountable, and yet impressive progress has already been made in tackling these issues.
You can read Peter Brett’s reports on the two shows inside, as well as his review of the clever Plumbkit toolkit from Wera - well worth a look for anyone who works in the plumbing trade.
As ever, I hope you enjoy reading the magazine, and don’t forget to take a moment to check out our website at
