IT was a bumper turnout at this year’s event with 48 butchers travelling from as far afield as Ireland to Meatup at the MK Arena, Milton Keynes to showcase a dazzling array of nearly 300 products for judges to evaluate. It was a feast for the
taste buds with entrants demonstrating their skills across 21 categories winning 136 Gold, 72 Silver and 25 Bronze awards. However, from this wonderful selection of products there could be
only one winner and that was Alison Mellors of Maloney’s. It is the third time
Maloney’s have taken the Supreme Champion title with their pork pie, the last time having been back in 2015 when father Mike Maloney liſted the trophy. Maloney’s, established
in 1979 started out as a traditional butcher but soon developed the bakery side. Since those days the business has flourished and now comprises two shops
