COMMENT

CONGRATULATIONS to Maloney’s winning ‘Supreme Champion’ for a third time at the National Meat Products Competition at Meatup. Also, congratulations to James Gracey on becoming Premier Young Butcher 2017 as well as a huge well done to Dylan Gillespie and James Taylor for their achievement in raising their performance and all expectations representing the UK against other elite apprentices from across Europe at the International Young Butcher Competition in May. Life tends to be about

winners and about winning. No one enters a competition to lose. But remembering that with every experience, everyone takes something away with them, there is still something laudable and although typically ‘English’, to be gained from just taking part. Aſter all, success as

a certain Mr Corbyn recently discovered can be all about expectations. Where perhaps ironically, raising low expectations and coming second is better than coming first and failing high expectations! Competitions are not

always about where you end up – but also about where you start! n
