Improving Protein Nutrition of Broilers by Enzyme Use

With continuing focus on production efficiency in the broiler industry, and a greater need to consider the environmental impact of production, it has never been more important to maximise the value of nutritional inputs. New strategies and thinking are required to achieve the aim, and within this the most efficient use of modern nutritional technologies must be addressed. One of the key tools available is the use of enzymes, and their focussed use can improve digestibility of the nutrients in the feed, thus driving efficiency of production. Within this, we can drill down to optimise the use of enzymes to enhance protein delivery to the bird. RONOZYME®

increases digestibility of a broad range of feed protein sources, can play an important role in delivering upon this objective as it complements the performance of endogenous enzymes, such as pepsin and pancreatic proteases, and other exogenous enzymes to offer feed cost savings, whilst enhancing broiler performance. The improved protein utilization also reduces nitrogen excretion and the environmental impact of broiler production. Its use also results in less undigested protein being available for bacterial fermentation, meaning gut health and integrity are improved.

Alongside protease, the benefits to amino acid availability of the use of phytase should also be considered. RONOZYME® HiPhos is a

highly efficacious phytase with a proven ability to release high levels of phosphorus and other minerals from the feed materials, but also to bring benefits in terms of amino acid delivery to the broiler. Used in combination, RONOZYME®

ProAct and HiPhos improve

the protein digestibility of feed and increase the amino acid availability to the animal, which provides the opportunity to reduce feed costs, and reduce crude protein content of the diet whilst still maintaining animal performance. This will result in improved producer profitability in the quest for sustainable meat production.
