New Homes August - September 2018 Wales and the South West

LOVELL GOLFERS CHIP IN £170k FOR CHARITY DURING 25 YEARS OF FANTASTIC FUNDRAISING

South Wales partnership homes developer Lovell has celebrated the 25th anniversary of its annual charity golf day.

Over the past quarter century, the event has raised more than £170,000 for local good causes. The total includes more than £7,250 raised by this year’s event – held as usual at the Whitchurch Golf Club, Cardiff – for Cardiff’s Velindre Cancer Centre, the charity chosen by the Lovell team. Lovell regional managing director Kate Rees, who organised Lovell’s first-ever charity golf tournament in South Wales 25 years ago, says: "I’m thrilled that the golf day has continued to go from strength to strength and even more delighted that it has raised such a large sum for

charity over the years. "I want to thank everyone who has contributed to its success by supporting the event both this year and in the past, including staff from Lovell who put such effort into the organisation, the many individuals and businesses who have donated prizes and the enthusiastic golfers, including many teams from our partners, subcontractors and consultants, who have taken part. It is only because of their help and generosity that the event continues to be such a fun and enjoyable day which brings in a huge amount of money for good causes. "This year’s nominated charity, the Velindre specialist cancer treatment centre, helps over

1.5 million people in South East Wales and is a cause close to our hearts, with both members of our teams and their families having benefited from its excellent treatment and care." Twenty teams competed in the 2018 charity golf event. A team from City Plumbing won the tournament which was followed by a dinner and charity auction with prizes including a Gareth Bale-signed Real Madrid shirt; a Sam Warburton- signed 2012 Grand Slam champions shirt; a Citrus Hotel gift voucher, including a three- course dinner at the Thai House; a round of golf for four at the Whitchurch Golf Club; Autumn International rugby tickets and spa day passes for the Park Plaza Cardiff.
