Local pupil helps to name new Redrow development

Choosing a name for a new housing development isn’t easy, with many different factors to take into consideration. When it came to naming their new development near Lisvane, Redrow Homes South Wales decided to seek some outside help... Redrow ran a competition with local school, Corpus Christi Catholic High School, for one of the pupils to help name the new development. Corpus Christi sits opposite the site of the new development and the competition is the beginning of what promises to be an ongoing, positive relationship between the award-winning housebuilder and the secondary school. Te competition ran for

a week, and

received hundreds of entries collected from all Year 8 classes within the school. Redrow received some interesting entries, including Donald Trump Tower, but in the end the winner was Joe Leslie with his entry of Ty Draw Estate. Te name comes from Ty Draw road, on which both the school and the new development are located. Redrow took inspiration from Joe’s entry, eventually deciding on Plas Ty Draw as the name for their new development. As a thank you for holding the competition and helping to name the development Redrow gave a cheque of £150, £100 for the school

and £50 for Joe, in a small ceremony held at the school. Corpus Christi will be donating their cheque to the Chris Babu fund, and when asked what he would spend his cheque on Joe said he was planning to put it into savings. Some of the other entries into the competition will be put forward by Redrow to the Local Authority as suggestions for possible street names within the new development.

Angela Tomas, Head Teacher at Corpus Christi Catholic High School, said: “Te children were really excited to have the chance to name the new development and had a lot of fun coming up with suggestions. Te new development will be very close to the school so we’re grateful to Redrow Homes for this opportunity for the children to have some involvement and for their generous donations to the school and to Joe.” Kate Lacey, Area Sales Manager for Redrow Homes South Wales, said: “It was a pleasure to hold this competition with Corpus Christi to name the new development. We had some great entries and it wasn’t easy to choose an overall winner, but Joe’s suggestion of

incorporating the name

of Ty Draw road into the name of the development was a good one and we were delighted to present him with his prize. “At Redrow it’s incredibly important to us to become involved in local communities to ensure that our developments are beneficial to people already living in the area, as well as the new residents. We hope that this is the beginning of a really positive relationship between For more information, please visit www. redrow.co.uk

New Showhome st Swansea Development

A stunning three storey showhome has opened its doors to househunters in Swansea. Persimmon Homes West Wales has launched its new three- bedroom Sycamore style property at Mariners Walk in the city’s SA1 area. And sales bosses said it had already driven potential customers to the site off Langdon Road. Sharon Robinson, sales director at Persimmon Homes West Wales, said: “We’re delighted to open the doors to our stunning showhome at Mariners Walk. “We have seen lots of interest in Mariners Walk, which is no

surprise given its excellent location and range of house types. “Te showhome is sure to create an extra buzz. It’s one thing looking at 2D plans, but a development really comes to life when people can step inside a brick and mortar house to get an idea what is on offer. It becomes a lot more real. “Te property market is very strong in Swansea – particularly in the SA1 area. Our sales advisers can’t wait to show people around.”

22 - Friday 9th June 2017 – Cardiff & South Wales Advertiser

Te Sycamore features a bedroom, garage, utility room and toilet on the ground floor. Te first floor has a dining and living room and a spacious kitchen, whilst the second floor consists of two bedrooms, an en suite to the master bedroom and a family bathroom. Sharon added: “A third floor can be an interesting proposition for some people who perhaps haven’t considered it before, or perhaps thought it might be out of reach financially. “For those with teenage children, it can help to give them a bit of extra privacy, or for those who work at home it can help to separate the office from the rest of the property.” Part of the multimillion pound regeneration of the docklands, Mariners Walk offers a collection of two and three bedroom homes as well as two bedroom apartments, all within easy reach of Swansea’s city centre. Te marketing suite is open from 11am to 6pm, Tursday through to Monday. For more information, visit www.persimmonhomes.com
