for people in Cardiff is nearing comp let io n. T ese homes will give future occupants the opportunity to make substantial savings on their average energy bills. LivEco’s development Great Farm House in St Fagans, which has been funded by Principality Commercial, will see a further ten eco dwellings built, adding to the nine properties completed during phase one. Several properties have already been sold off plan on the development which is due to complete during the summer. Clearly buyers are now placing a premium on energy effi ciency and in this respect the properties at the Great Farm House come complete with high performance windows and doors, excellent levels of insulation, underfl oor heating, heat exchange pumps, together with electric car charging points. T ere has been a real attention to detail on every possible aspect. Principality Commercial, which funds the acquisition and re-fi nancing of commercial, industrial, retail and residential properties, has supported LivEco’s development throughout both phases. Peter Hughes, Principality Commercial’s Managing Director, said: “T is is an exciting scheme, one which Principality is especially proud to be supporting. Funding this project fi ts with our purpose of helping communities prosper and to help people at every stage of their lives. T e cost-saving benefi ts here are attractive to potential buyers, with energy bills becoming an important factor when people choose a home. “T is project is one of the fi rst of its kind not only in Wales but the UK, and may herald the beginning of a new generation of eco-homes. Residents at the Great Farm House who moved into homes in the fi rst phase of the project have already been reaping the benefi ts of eco-living for some time now. Among them is Dr Colin Wilsher, who said: “We are very happy to support the development and feel that all new housing should have the same excellent eco-credentials. T e planned design of housing is not only compact, ecologically sound and sensitive to the local environment, but a very creative use of space.” T e Great Farm House has been designed by Conservation Architects Gillard Associates. Sale prices for the eco-homes range between £185,000 and £235,000, for a range of one and two bed properties. Developer Daniel Ball said: “Our aim for the Great Farm House project is clear – to build a new generation of low-energy, sustainable homes where people enjoy lower fuel bills, bespoke design and enhanced well-being in a safe community.
