Help for Heroes Sports Recovery on Target in Wales


A military veteran from Merthyr Tydfi l has been one of the fi rst to benefi t in a calendar of activities organised by Help for Heroes this summer. The schedule, designed by the charity’s Community Recovery Team in Wales, is aimed at improving the mental and physical wellbeing of armed forces personnel injured in service. In the fi rst of these events, Jim Whitworth, 47, joined veterans from across south Wales at a sports recovery residential course at Margam Country Park. The iconic grade 1 listed Welsh landmark made a stunning backdrop for the 3-day event, with a range of sporting activities on off er. Jim praised Help for Heroes Sports Recovery, which he has taken part in for over a year.

You need to be looking at the rest of your life, not just the next six months, and that’s key.” Falklands veteran, David Hodge, 56, also from Newport, served with the Welsh Guards. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
