A Cynon Valley community group that is looking to raise funds for a parent and child class has received a cash influx from a leading Welsh housebuilder. Persimmon Homes East Wales has chosen to support A.S.D Rainbows with £1,000 on its project to work with young people on the autistic spectrum. Te charity is already making strides by providing an aſter-school club and pre-school group for youngsters twice a week. Te housebuilder’s donation will make sure that the group reaches its fundraising target of £2,000 for the next year. Adele Evans, from A.S.D Rainbows, said: “We are thrilled to be recognised by Persimmon Homes and it’s brilliant to be able to meet our fundraising target for the year. “We are going to start a parent and child group for children under assessment for autism and with this generous donation we can now run sessions twice a week. “Te group will allow our staff to equip parents with strategies to help their child develop communication and social skills.” Persimmon Homes’ national match-funding programme Community Champions seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life for local people. Te scheme has also benefitted a group of runners from St. Modwen, a developer which Persimmon has a strong working relationship with in South Wales. Te four-strong group have pulled on their trainers for a 10k trail run all in aid of youth homelessness charity, Landaid. Victoria Williams, sales director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: “As a company we are committed to supporting the groups that make a real difference to the areas in which we build – and this month’s good causes are no exception. “A.S.D Rainbows are looking to grow their charity and we’re very pleased to help them do just that, while the team at St. Modwen are sure to raise a fantastic amount of money for an important charity in Landaid. “Community Champions has handed over £1.5million to good causes across the UK and it’s great to see so many charities and community groups benefitting. “Persimmon Homes East Wales has had a fantastic response to its Community Champions scheme and it is always a tricky task to pick our winners each month. “If applicants were unsuccessful last month, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next Community Champion.” Organisations can apply for funding by completing a simple online form at
