Help to Buy Wales gains popularity with Welsh buyers
More than a quarter of people buying newly-built Welsh homes last year used the Help to Buy Wales equity scheme. Bellway has lowered some prices at its Edenbrook development in Ystradowen to bring their homes within reach of more homebuyers, who can use Help to Buy Wales to purchase their new home. The price of the four-bedroom Woodcote house has been lowered to £299,995. Buyers can use Help to Buy Wales to purchase with just a five per cent deposit and 75 per cent mortgage, with the additional 20 per cent provided as an equity loan from the Welsh Government which is interest-free for five years. The incentive can be used to buy
houses up to the value of £300,000. Carly Maidment, Sales Manager for Bellway Wales, said: “We’ve seen the popularity of Help to Buy Wales grow across all our sites, so we wanted to give buyers the chance to use it at our Edenbrook development. “Lowering
the price of our four-bedroom
Woodcote housetype opens the door for many people who may have previously not been able to afford the deposit or mortgage repayments for a new-build home in the area.
“There are only a handful of homes left at Edenbrook, so we’re urging anyone who is looking for a new home and is interested in
using the Help to Buy Wales scheme to visit the development now to find out more.” Help to Buy Wales has helped nearly 5,500 buyers purchase a new home since its inception in 2014. So far, almost £200m has been handed out by the Welsh Government for more than £1bn worth of new homes in Wales.
Just a handful of four-bedroom homes are now left for sale at Edenbrook, which is located on Badger’s Brook Rise in Ystradowen, just north of Cowbridge.
