Get glowing

The fastest way to treat your skin needs is to bag yourself a good serum

IMPROVE SKIN TONE AND REDUCE WRINKLES

UV PROTECTION

Antioxidant rich serums (such as those rich in Vitamin C) tend to work well at preventing the

effects from pollution and UV that we are all exposed to during the day. Apply under a sunscreen in the morning.

BRIGHTEN DULL SKIN As you age, your skin can naturally start to lose that

look of natural radiance. Apply the chosen serum to clean skin, both morning and evening, to help illuminate the skin and stimulate cell renewal,

S

erums feel sensuous on the skin and create an extra layer between your delicate

complexion and the elements, especially important during the winter months, and the ravages wrought by dehydrating central heating. So equip yourself with a complexion correcting and protecting souped-up formula, and pave your way to a smoother visage.

With a much lighter consistency than face creams, they contain a higher concentration of active ingredients. The smaller molecular weight can penetrate the skin much deeper than a heavier cream. In fact, serums are the ones that do all the hard work. If you could only use one skincare product for the rest of your life, we’d say grab a serum.

So what is a serum? You are not alone in having no earthly idea what a serum is. Even if you’re the proud owner of several serums, it’s not a particularly clear

product on the surface. Plus, you need super human eye sight to read the labels and any of the ingredients or how to use them.

Finding the best face serum for you There are so many serums out there it’s tricky knowing which serum is right for you. You can either look for one that suits your skin type, for example if you have dry skin you ought to opt for one with high levels of hyaluronic acid, whilst if you suffer from breakouts, one containing vitamin C will do wonders. In our opinion it’s good to have a serum wardrobe that you can turn to in the morning.

How often should I use my serum? Well, this all depends on the serum and your skin type. Read the label (good luck), but once a day will probably cover all bases. Yes, serums tend to be on the pricier end of the skincare spectrum. But for a very good reason. Remember that bit about being super concentrated and potent?

WHICH SERUM IS RIGHT FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE?

ACNE-PRONE SKIN Look for vitamin C (increases collagen production, and reduces inflammation), retinol (also an antioxidant), zinc (soothes irritation), salicylic acid (un-clogs pores).

DRY SKIN Look for vitamin E (an antioxidant, protects cells from oxidative damage), niacinamide (improves skin elasticity), glycolic acid (gently exfoliates and lightens discoloration) and hyaluronic acid (retains moisture).

FEELING DULL Look for antioxidants like green tea extract, resveratrol, ferulic acid (these combat free radicals, and promote cellular repair and healing by night).

A word of caution: Because serums are super potent, more is not always better. Be careful before piling it on. Powerful ingredients can irritate sensitive skin. Mix in with your normal moisturiser and always patch-test accordingly.

revealing more youthful looking complexion.

MINIMISE DARK SPOTS Daily UV exposure and aging

can result in the appearance of dull skin and discolorations like dark spots. Serums can make skin look more luminous and

help fade the appearance of dark spots over time. Apply before heading out for the day, and be sure to also take sun protection measures.

ADDRESS SIGNS OF AGING

Face serum plays a vital role in any effective anti-aging skin care routine. Pick a serum that contains intensely hydrating

hyaluronic acid. These serums absorbs quickly to help reveal instantly replenished, plumped skin. Apply the serum after am and pm cleansing, This includes you boys….

BOOST VOLUME

Use a serum to help boost volume As you mature, your skin can gradually lose moisture and

volume, especially in delicate areas like cheekbones and under the

eyes. Use a serum that contains hyaluronic acid. Follow up with a nourishing moisturiser.
