UPFRONT DO THE MATHS WISH YOU WERE HERE

We asked crewmembers where they would like to spend their precious holiday time before the start of a busy season

OPEN TO QUESTION

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE YACHT SHOW AND WHY?

17% Stay-cation

13% Winter sports

18% Adventure

10% Spa

ALEX KOPERTOWSKA, CHIEF STEW I did Monaco, Cannes and Fort Lauderdale but my uber favourite was Antigua 2 years ago. If I had a chance to do it again, I would in a heart beat. I think because it’s a Charter Show and all the crew attending are really fun people to meet.

6% Safari 33% Lazing on beach

PEOPLE REQUEST THE STRANGEST THINGS

“Is it possible to send a crew member up to comb my husband’s hair please?”

DID YOU KNOW AN OCTOPUS HAS THREE HEARTS AND BLUE BLOOD?

DID YOU KNOW?

ANGELSHARK Sources from he 19th and early 20th centuries

indicate that the Angelshark was once abundant all around the coasts of Western Europe and the Mediterranean. Angelshark numbers have declined enormously across most of its habitat; it is now believed to be extinct in the North Sea and most of the northern Mediterranean, and has become extremely rare elsewhere.

TOM BLENCOWE, BOSUN M/Y Monaco for certain. End of season vibe and a lot of crew appreciation going on. Everyone is hyped and friendly, awesome parties from start to finish, and it’s a rewarding way to show off your hard work from the weeks prior.

ERICA LAY, OWNER EL CREW CO I like Antigua. After the Med’s gotten all cold and grey it’s awesome meeting up with a lot of the Palma crowd over in the Caribbean, and it’s a brilliant start to a busy winter season with a different vibe.

MARTI MORRIS, CHIEF MATE M/Y Monaco Yacht Show for sure! A good time to catch up with both old and new friends and it usually indicates it’s the end of another long Med summer season. One good last push during the show then time to relax just a little.

MARLIES SANDERS, MATE S/Y I’ll vote Palma!! Getting bigger and bigger and a good clientele unless you actually need to sell a boat. Big emphasis on sailing yachts and great crew events generally. And then of course, it’s PALMA!!

All the rivers run into the sea; yet

the sea is not full King Solomon

RUSSELL WHITWORTH & BEN VICKERS, DIRECTORS MC PALMA For us, it has to be Palma Boat Show. It’s very sailing orientated and although it is not the biggest, it means it’s small enough for you to work your way around it and see everyone. It’s personable and works well for us both.
