Safeguard Helideck Certification (SHC)


SHC is an accredited Aviation Inspection Body (AIB) authorised to issue Helicopter Landing Area Certificates (HLAC), Helicopter Landing Area Inspection Reports (HLAIR) and Helicopter Landing Area Technical Certificates (HLATC). They certify superyacht helicopter landing areas on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and Cayman Island Shipping Registry (CISR), allowing for commercial flying operations to take place onboard superyachts that meet the requirements laid down. The team has an extensive maritime aviation background and brings decades of experience in the safe operation of aircraft to vessels at sea.


As an AIB they offer expert consultancy support for the safe design, use and certification of superyacht helicopter landing areas. They work closely with naval architects, yacht management companies and designers to ensure their initial concepts will meet the requirements and allow for commercial flying to take place. Where owner/operator specified improvements or alterations are required to an existing helideck area, the team can ensure these changes will be compliant with the regulations.
