Hatz asks the questions

To raise awareness of the EU Stage V engine regulations coming into effect on 1 January 2019, Hatz GB invited visitors to take a quiz to check their understanding of them. Questions asked about DPF technology, what terms like CAN and SCR stand for, and the transition deadline dates for 2018 production engines. Do you know the answers? Diesel engines displayed included the 3-cylinder 3H50TIC

and 4-cylinder 4H50TIC (pictured). The former is a liquid- cooled model available in a fan-to-flywheel version as well as an OPU (open power unit) variant. It is claimed to offer the highest torque in its class. The 4H50TIC is a 2-litre engine fitted with a turbocharged intercooler, and was also displayed in an OPU version. The company also

showed a new super- silenced water pump. The 3hp power pack, driven by the Hatz 3H50TIC for 4in and 6in hydraulic submersibles, is

designed to meet the Stage V regulations, and is produced by Active Engineering as part of its Quax pumps range.

Bobcat shows new minis

Making their UK debut on the Bobcat stand were machines in the manufacturer’s new R-Series of mini excavators, comprising the E26, E27z, E27, E34 and E35z, ranging from 2-4 tonnes. Their cabs are designed to offer more operator space and have larger windows for all-around visibility. The manufacturer states that the operator benefits from a new Selectable

Auxiliary Control (SAC) system for customisable joystick controls, enabling the user to select and switch the control pattern for the auxiliary hydraulic lines to suit different attachments. The smallest model is the E26, which is 100kg lighter than its predecessor

but has increased over-the-side lifting capacity. The E27z is described as a Zero House Swing (ZHS) machine, even with the optional heavy counterweight, for operational flexibility when working close to walls. Also available is the conventional swing E27 which offers 280mm of tail overhang. Efficient Epiroc compactors

Epiroc displayed the HC 350 and HC 850 models from its range of HC hydraulic compactors, which are said to be virtually maintenance-free and designed as fast and effective tools for compacting soil, trenches and embankments. The attachments are designed to be fitted to standard adapter plates and

quick-coupling systems, with models available to suit machines weighing from 1-40 tonnes. Epiroc states they create little noise and can offer increased safety, particularly when used in trenches.
