Access in an Instant Instant Tool & Plant Hire, of Newcastle-under-

Lyme, has invested in a pair of trailer-mounted boom lifts from Snorkel UK. The TL37J and TL49J towable booms

purchased are bi-energy powered and are equipped with Snorkel’s optional friction drive system for easier movement when unhitched from a vehicle. The units are the first Snorkel products to be purchased by Instant Tool & Plant Hire, and were handed over in early October by Snorkel UK sales representative, Scott Holtby. Manufactured at Snorkel’s UK's facility in Tyne

& Wear, the TL37J reaches a maximum working height of 12.9m and boasts a platform capacity of 215kg. The larger TL49J can lift 200kg to a working height of 16.7m, while delivering a maximum outreach of 8.5m when extended. Instant Tool & Plant Hire was founded by husband and wife Andy and Joanne Macartney,

to address the challenges of out-of-hours access to hire equipment and technical support. Their approach sees the business open seven-days-a-week, also providing its customers with a 24-hour hotline. Speaking of the deal, Snorkel UK MD Andrew Fishburn said: “We are delighted

to have delivered our first units to Instant Tool & Plant Hire, and would like to thank Andy & Joanne for their trust placed in Snorkel UK. Towable products are a great fit for their business model, and I am confident that these lifts will become a big hit with both their residential and commercial customers.”

X marks the spot Xwatch Safety Solutions and plant safety specialists, Sphere 24,

have been working alongside BlueSky Solutions and Nationwide Platforms, which are both part of the Loxam Group, to develop the latest in height and slew control for mobile elevated work platforms. The brief was to make the Xwatch system compatible with

scissor lifts, booms and truck mounts, which are part of the Nationwide Platforms fleet. The machines were to be deployed to a number of high-profile schemes, including HS2 and Hinkley Point C. Dan Leaney, Xwatch director of sales and operations said:

“The newly developed solution has been on trial with Loxam and has been working successfully in the field for over 12-months, in real-life applications, and with bona fide customers. We have had excellent feedback and the new systems have experienced zero problems and no downtime!”
