2 Cousins Powered Access has been announced as JCB’s first scissor lift customer following the manufacturer’s recent entry into this market. The Oxford-based specialist hirer

Generator Power expands Western fleet

Specialist hirer, Generator Power, has ordered more than 100 fuel tanks from Western Global to add to its growing range. The deal includes new-shape towable ABBI 950-litre units, Transcube bunded tanks and larger model 100TT ISO container tanks. Generator Power’s MD, Stephen Cardwell said that

the company specialises in Western Global fuel tanks, which complement the generators it sources principally from Atlas Copco. He is pictured, left, with Western’s Duncan Farr, alongside some of the new models which have been factory-painted in the hirer’s green livery, prior to distribution to its depots throughout the UK.

has initially bought an S1930e model, one from a range of nine machines. MD Jason Prisley (left) and colleague Claudio Checchia are pictured with the unit at the official launch of the products earlier this year, on which we reported in our March issue.

Brandon chooses Bona

Brandon Hire entered into a partnership with wood floor equipment specialists, Bona, which will supply a range of sanding machines throughout the hirer’s depot network. These include the Flexisand PD, Scorpion and Combi Edge orbital, drum and edge sanders, and the manufacturer will also train staff on their operation. Brandon’s National Technical Manager, Dave

Arscott, said, “I’m always looking for innovation and how we can add kit to our hire fleet that will help our customers work faster and get a better end result. Also, the fact that a growing number of homeowners are now hiring tools and equipment to do the job themselves, rather than calling in a professional, means we are keen to support the DIY market, which these floor sanders will be perfect for.”

A-Plant places HGI order

Altrad Belle receives Paul Bidwell Memorial Award

The inaugural Paul Bidwell Memorial Award was presented to Altrad Belle during the recent Plantworx exhibition 2017, for the design, safe construction and delivery of its stand, together with an informative working demonstration area. Paul Bidwell died in May last year aged only 58.

Having first worked for Poclain, he joined Manitou UK in 1988 and, latterly, as Marketing Manager, organised the company’s exhibition stands. He was also member of the Plantworx working group which established the initial event in 2013. Paul’s wife Rosie and son James travelled to

Bruntingthorpe to present the Award personally to members of the Altrad Belle team.

A-Plant has placed an order worth £2m with HGI (Harrington Generators International) for new machines for its power generation business, Mather+Stuart Power Solutions. The 1,500rpm HRD

generators cover 9kVA to 100kVA and have been adapted to enable them to be synchronised. The machines incorporate HGI’s engineered acoustic repression (EAR) technology for quiet operation.

• As we went to press, Ashtead Group announced that A-Plant Chief Executive,

Sat Dhaiwal, will retire from the company in July 2018. He will be succeeded by Richard Thomas, who joined A-Plant as Financial Director in 2011 and has been MD of its Specialist Products Division since July 2015.
