More Makita additions


Makita’s new DSC250 18V LXT steel rod cutter has a brushless motor and weighs only 4kg with the battery fitted. It is designed to cut through 25mm steel bar and the material guide block is heavy-duty fluorescent material for accurate placement. Dust covers protecting the motor air intake are removable for cleaning and a dust bag is provided to catch any swarf. The tool is fitted with the manufacturer’s automatic torque


drive technology (ADT) which changes the cutting speed according to the load condition. The company’s M-Class VC4210M dust extractor has been


updated with the motor, control module and main filter now placed higher into the upper body housing to increase the tank’s working capacity. This enables a 30-litre disposable bag to be filled and, for wet suction, the tank will hold 29 litres before an automatic fluid level valve shuts off the motor. Available in 110V and 240V modes, there are three variants: 110V models with and without power take-off to drive integrated power tools, and a 240V machine with power take-off. Maximum airflow has been increased to 4.5m³ per minute, and the airflow is reversed automatically at regular intervals to clean the filters. Also new is the HR166D 10.8V brushless rotary hammer


drill, which has a similar appearance to its 18V counterpart but is a third smaller in overall dimensions. The tool can run at up to 680rpm and generates up to 4,800 impacts per minute. Delivering 1.1 joules of impact energy, it can make a 16mm hole in concrete, 13mm in wood and 10mm in steel.
