stalwart retires After an extensive career in and around construction machinery, and other industries, CLM Construction Supplies Managing Director Bob Hughes has decided to hang up his spurs. Bob left school at 16 and began working for
James Kent developing glazes for pottery ware while attending college. He next moved into middle management roles for various pottery firms before working at various companies such as Crown Paints, Handyman House, Rawlplug and WW Fixing. Bob next moved into construction equipment,
working for a subsidiary of Foulis – a Scottish company selling IMER products under the name IMER (UK) Ltd. The company ceased trading in 1996, but this gave Bob the idea to set up RDS. While at RDS, Bob contacted IMER International to see if he could set up a UK distributor. This idea was given the green light and Bob was introduced to another Italian manufacturer – MABER. As a result, the company became the UK distributor for both IMER and MABER equipment. RDS became a member of the IMER International family and the
name changed to IMER DIRECT (GB) Ltd. IMER DIRECT traded from 2000 to 2010, but when the parent company decided to close IMER DIRECT (GB) Ltd in 2010, this was an opportunity for Bob to
become the sole UK distributor for both IMER and MABER products. As a result, CLM Construction Supplies Ltd was created in November 2010. The rest is history, as they say. Now aged 73, Bob has decided to
retire while the going is good, starting with a cruise of the Norwegian Fjords and then to pursue a long-held ambition to improve his golf. On behalf of the entire EHS/EHN team, we wish him much success with that, as well as a long and happy retirement.
