A performance cruiser of this length


will typically have around 200GT of internal volume and carry eight to 12 people: six to eight guests with a crew of four to six. Path has 280GT and ample space for 18 people: 10 guests and eight crew including the captain. ‘She is designed as a home from home and will be used as a liveaboard for long periods of time, with full capability for running a business,’ Hawkins explains. ‘She’s extremely spacious even for the crew. This is a fully classed boat, subject to regulations about the amount of space for eachmember of the crew, but whatever thosemeasurements are, this boat smashes them. hand with high performance or good handling characteristics, but Path looks set to break that rule. Although her interior is huge compared withmost sailing yachts of a similar length, performance was a crucial parameter in the design brief. ‘Themajor interest is not racing but performance in terms of how the boat behaves,’ Rolf Vrolijk says. This absolutely isn’t just a fair-weather boat with a lot of sail area; it’s designed to perform and handle well in all wind and sea conditions. ‘This customer is a real sailor.’ Vrolijk
