A new experience at The Alchemist Spa

DEFINED as a spa-enhanced sanctuary by the sea, The Alchemist Spa at The Woolacombe Bay Hotel in North Devon is a defining feature, attracting guests with its views of the Atlantic Coast combined with its spa treatments and facilities. Spa Vision worked with the hotel on a

six-month project to install a new Rasul experience for the spa. This ancient Arabic bathing ritual uses mineral-rich mud along with heat and steam. The Spa Vision team consulted on the design, installation and supply of the experience, and also sourced and supplied four LEC Kensington +Studio treatment beds and one Gharieni SPL soft treatment bed for the spa. “The Woolacombe Bay Hotel is a

landmark of the North Devon coast. At its heart sits The Alchemist Spa which plays a vital role in not only attracting visitors, but maintaining the overall ambience, culture and experience the hotel offers its guests. Working closely with the hotel owner and her team on this project enabled us to offer a broad spectrum of expertise and support across a number of key areas to optimise the final result, ensuring it fitted perfectly with their vision and ambitions for the spa for many years to come,” said Colin Cameron, director of Spa Vision.

Restoration of Newcastle’s City Baths continues

WORK is ongoing to bring a much-loved Turkish baths back to life – soon to be one of only a few still in operation in England. The £7.5m restoration of The City Baths,

Newcastle, by charity Fusion Lifestyle will see the Grade II-listed building revitalised to combine modern facilities. Once complete, the transformation will

see the swimming pool and Turkish baths completely restored, with the addition of a health and fitness suite, spa with treatment rooms and a café bistro. The current building opened to the public

in 1928, with the history of baths on this site dating back even further, to when famous Newcastle son, John Dobson, built private baths in 1838 at a cost of £9,500. Fusion Lifestyle secured planning permission and listed building consent

from Newcastle City Council in 2016 after spotting the historic venue thanks to the community campaign to save it. In the main health and fitness suite, a

suspended floor has been laid over the drained pool tank to make way for a gym, and the structure of the two storey glass-fronted studios is also in place, with the upper level set to host yoga and dance classes. The roof lanterns in both the health and

fitness suite and the pool have also been restored and repainted in a pale mint green, in-keeping with the overall serene and relaxing look and feel of the final décor. The building is expected to open later

this year. www.fusion-lifestyle.com
