PSI releases findings of latest Industry Barometer
T
industry is viewing the year with optimism.
Both distributors and suppliers expect sales to increase in the current business year. One in five promotional products suppliers and distributors stated in the survey that they expect an increase of more than 20%. A whopping 10% even forecast a plus of 50%. That means last yearʼs growth continues. Among distributors and manufacturers alike, the countries with the strongest sales in 2016 included the Netherlands, France and Germany.

More than 75% of Dutch suppliers said in the Industry Barometer they sold more than €10 million worth of products last year. In France and Germany, one in five manufacturers said they generated sales of more than €10 million.
Sustainability is a topic thatʼs steadily gaining in significance for the industry. More than 90% of surveyed companies say their assortments already include verifiably sustainable products. And 56% of suppliers and 41% of distributors consider sustainability an important or very important topic in the industry.

alongside digital marketing manger, Sarah Neate, Ms Taylor will be
responsible for
generating PR content by working closely with the whole CMYUK team, clients and the press to produce relevant news articles and case studies that can be used across all CMYUK marketing channels. Ms Taylor has over 20 years of experience working in a variety of PR, marketing, content development and management roles across a broad range of sectors, including government agencies, charities, publishing companies, marketing, graphic design and creative agencies. She has worked in London, New York and Rome and is now based in Shrewsbury at CMYUKʼs new state-of-the-art demonstration and training centre.
She said: “I have known about CMYUK for years as have worked with printers and agencies all over the UK, and their new high-spec showroom really has cemented their position as the leading independent supplier of digital print technologies and materials. Iʼm thrilled to be joining an already strong team and very much look forward to building and managing client relationships, overseeing content, generating media coverage etc. for such an exciting and forward- thinking company.”

spreading across the industry, there is still a need for clarification regarding the CSR reporting mandate. Since the start of the year, major capital market-oriented companies are required to report standardised, measurable information about the social and environmental impact of their business practices. Only 18% of promotional products manufacturers and 12% of distributors feel sufficiently informed about this rule at this time. This shows that the Industry Barometer is a successful tool for the PSI Institute to assess the knowledge gap in the industry.
The next Industry Barometer will be published in January 2018.
Long standing print industry professional joins Hybrid

rett Newman has joined exclusive UK and Irish Mimaki distributor, Hybrid Services, in the newly created role of chief operations manager. As a long standing print industry professional, Mr Newman brings over two decades of experience working within the sign and graphics industry and will be responsible for the companyʼs day to day operations, based at its Cheshire offices. New appointment at Dave Roper N
ick Walker has joined Dave Roper in sales and technical support from South Africa, where he was part of a manual print shop before moving on to an M&R dealership.
He then moved on to run his own business having three autos at the beginning then growing into the business collectively owning 11 autos.
He has now moved over to the UK and has fitted in perfectly with the team at Dave Roper. Mr Walker has a fantastic amount of knowledge and experience behind him so will attempt any questions thrown his way.
