UK T-Shirt Printing moves to new solar powered factory

U

K T-Shirt Printing, the B2B division of leading eco-fashion brand Rapanui, has recently moved to a new low carbon T shirt printing factory. The 12,000sq ft factory, powered by renewable energy, is located in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight and boasts a 12kw photovoltaic solar panel array, LED lighting and insulation throughout, low power electric gel heaters in the offices and M&R Ecomax electric dryers to dry tees produced by the printing carousels.

The move from Cowes is a result of UK T-Shirt Printingʼs recent rapid growth, fuelled by demand for the companyʼs

sustainable branded merchandise and its supply chainʼs commitment to sustainability and traceability. Co-founder, Rob Drake- Knight, said: “Whatʼs really cool about this factory is that it is entirely powered by renewable energy. When the

sunʼs out our solar panels contribute to the energy needed to turn the carousels or cure the tees. When itʼs raining we fall back on our supply from mixed renewable, including solar, wind and hydro.
