Focus on Golfwear

Golfwear goes green

As a leader in golfing apparel, Glenmuir’s latest collections focus on sustainable performance fabrics and natural fibres.

G

lenmuir has been crafting natural fibres since 1891, and now the Scottish brand’s SS20 and AW20 ranges have an increased focus on sustainable performance fabrics and natural fibres. This is highlighted through the brand’s #GlenmuirCare campaign.

This includes the brand’s seasonal knitwear for men and women, which is made from 100% pure combed cotton from renewable resources. Products made from its signature 100% extra-fine Italian Merino wool, Touch of Cashmere and 100% British Lambswool fabrics are also all natural, renewable and biodegradable and will be available in the new SS20 colours of Ascot blue, magenta and spring green.

New products include double mercerised cotton polo shirts made using a technical process that removes stray fibres from the cotton yarn and fabric, resulting in a silk-like handle, luxurious drape and outstanding colour retention. The AW20 collection also features new products made from sustainable fibres, such as the signature Touch of Cashmere zip neck sweaters, where contemporary sporty design meets natural fibres to create unique knitwear pieces which are breathable, stretch, soft to touch and have an anti-pill finish. Each piece of knitwear is hand-knitted by craftsmen with

stitches linked manually resulting in a long-lasting perfect fit and resilient flat seams.

Mikhel Ruia, managing director, said: “The Autumn Winter 2020 collection continues Glenmuir’s mission to be the most loved golf apparel brand in the world. The collection represents premium quality, functional and elegant golf clothing crafted using sustainable and renewable methods. We are only just getting started and look forward to continuing our journey of innovation, design and development for the 2021 collections.” When making performance products, Glenmuir’s factories ensure all chemical discharge from dyeing and manufacturing processes go through a waste water treatment management system, which returns the discharge to its original water state before discharging back into the sea or river.

Mikhel added: “As a family business, Glenmuir in its 130-year history have always and will always remain committed to respecting all of our stakeholders whether that be customers, suppliers, partners, colleagues, and the same goes for the environment.”

The SS20 collection is available now, while the AW20 collection will be available from August.
