Industry News MyWorkwear celebrates 45 years in style

M

yWorkwear has celebrated its 45th anniversary after launching in 1976.

Founded by Mike Worthington, the business first started producing golf and cycle bags but very quickly moved into the uniform and workwear business in 1980 due to the demand from local Japanese businesses for overalls that fitted their new UK workers.

From the early days, Mr Worthington and his team always focused on what the customer needed so when the retail world started to move online, MyWorkwear launched its first website and the business didn’t look back.

sign of the company’s excellent customer service.

In just the last two years MyWorkwear has more than doubled its revenue and staff numbers, while investing in new machinery and a new brand.

Promo industry reunites at The Big New Products Trade Show

E

xhibitors and visitors alike flocked back to The Big New Products Trade Show in September, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse and Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium. Visitor Dom Fitzgerald of Brand Additions said: “It’s a great show and it’s good to see so many of our suppliers at one venue. Products are the lifeblood of what we do, and to be able to pick them up and test them out is much better than just seeing them online.” Anthony Cafolla of AA Promotions came all the way from Northern Ireland for the Manchester show. He said: “This is the first show I’ve been able to attend for three years, and it’s been great to meet suppliers face-to-face again. Everything’s on the way back, and that’s fantastic for the industry.”

Exhibitors were equally delighted with the show. Preseli’s Dave Wilson said: “It’s incredibly nice to see friends, fellow suppliers and customers all in the same place. We’ve been really pleased with the quality of the visitors and the conversations we’ve been having. It’s been really positive.”

Among the new exhibitors for this series of shows was the British Promotional Merchandise Association. BPMA membership manager Tom Robey said: “We’ve met many existing members, as well as non-members – some of who are new to the sector, so it’s been great to be able to offer them some advice. The show has been more than constructive for us.”

James Worthington, managing director, said: “We’ve seen a lot of changes over the years, not just in the fashions, but one thing remains the same – our emphasis on quality and customer service. As we celebrate this milestone, we are proud of the achievements we’ve made, and we look forward to making UK businesses ‘workwear happy’ for the next 45 years and beyond.”
