Positive progress for Gildan as latest sustainability report is released
G
ildan has outlined progress under its Next Generation Sustainability strategy with the publication of its 2025 Sustainability Report. The company continued efforts to reduce environmental impact and strengthen social responsibility across its global operations.
Last year, the company achieved 100% sustainable cotton sourcing and enhanced traceability through a third-party platform.
It also reduced water intensity by around 25% per kilogram of fabric produced compared with a 2018 baseline, surpassed its target for recycled polyester and alternative fibres at 25.2%, and strengthened workplace safety with nine facilities achieving ISO 45001 certification.

A major highlight was the launch of a new website following a six-figure investment, delivering a faster, more intuitive purchasing experience. Enhanced customer ordering portals now offer businesses greater flexibility and control when managing workwear needs.
As well as its 50th anniversary MyWorkwear is also revelling in the joys of a successful financial year; one that was defined by said investments and innovations. The company has now supplied more than 50,000 businesses nationwide. Sustainability remains a focus, too, with a new energy-efficient heating system improving working conditions while reducing costs.
Looking ahead, MyWorkwear plans to celebrate its 50th year with new partnerships and customer giveaways throughout 2026/27.

The company was also included in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class North America Index for the 13th consecutive year and the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for the 14th year, and received an A- CDP Climate Change score, alongside recognition from MSCI, ISS ESG, TIME and Corporate Knights. The report is available via the company’s corporate website, as Gildan prepares for integration with HanesBrands and future goal-setting and continued transparency across its sustainability reporting.
GOTS expands across global textile
T
he Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) has reported continued expansion across global textile supply chains, according to the Global Standard Annual Report 2025.
The report shows that the number of GOTS-certified facilities increased by 15.3% year-on-year, reaching approximately 17,800 certified sites across 95 countries.
The Global Standard also reported progress in strengthening due diligence alignment and improving traceability systems, alongside the continued development of its Global Responsible Textile Standard (GRTS), designed to extend credible sustainability frameworks beyond organic fibres.

In addition, the organisation noted further engagement with brands, manufacturers and certification bodies through training, consultations and collaborative initiatives aimed at improving transparency and implementation across the textile sector.
