Current Trends From making the attraction increasingly scalable to introducing even better special effects, the Flying Theatre format is in a constant state of flux. According to Christian Martin, VP marketing at Triotech:


“The key development is the deployment of smaller flying theatres. This is a democratisation of the flying theatre experience, now one does not have to travel to a destination park to experience it. “Flying theatres were once the sole domain of major


destination parks. Now, there exists scalable solutions, such as CL Corp’s Birdy or Triotech’s The Flyer that are scalable. In other words, they can accommodate smaller spaces, or smaller capacity needs and fit lower budgets than the typical evergreen destination park mega-project.” MackMedia’s Linda Engelhardt agrees: “We currently


see a lot of demand for flying theatre attractions in a smaller form factor and at a more affordable price, but without compromising the experience itself. Therefore we have started to look at the attraction format in detail to find areas for improvement. She continues: “As an operator of two Flying Theatres

different Flying Theatres that each offer something unique. For these larger operators that want high throughput and a bigger scale attraction we have our 360 Flying theatre (in collaboration with Mondial) which consists of 60 seats, the unique element of this product is how guests can board from ground level on a platform away from the screen, then when the ride begins guests are rotated 180 degrees to reveal the dome screen. But for small operators we scaled down the product with our Mini Flying Theatre, without compromising on quality or thrill factor. With a smaller capacity, we still retained the ease of being able to board from ground level, eliminating any need for multi- level entrances. “Operators are beginning to see that this kind of ride is
