Three record breakers
Nickelodeon Universe opened with two record breaking roller coasters, the Shellraiser, a launched Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter, and Shredder, a Gerstlauer spinning coaster, and Legends of the Hidden Temple, a record breaking ropes course from RCI Adventure Products. Shellraiser is the larger of the two coasters. With a
length of 3,280 feet (1,000 m), it sports a 62 mph (100 kph) LSM launch, seven inversions, a 141-foot (43 m) vertical lift and the world’s steepest roller coaster drop at a breathtaking 122º. The proverbial icing on a terrifying cake is that riders are actually held at the edge of the drop in a glass and steel pop-up. Riders are suspended just long enough to gaze across the Hudson River at the Manhattan skyline before plummeting down 12 stories. Interwoven throughout Shellraiser is Shredder.
a soft opening, since 90 percent or more of American Dream’s space will not be operational until later in 2020. Currently only the Nickelodeon Universe theme park, a 180,000 square foot (16,723 sq m), 16 story indoor ski and snowboard called “Big Snow,” The Rink for ice skating, and a two story “It’s Sugar” candy megastore are open. Oddly enough, it will soon add athird story selling Oreo cookies and restaurant on
top of that. Dentists should love this combination! Visitors will also find two coffee bars, one by the ice rink and one by the indoor Big Snow area. There are currently no other food facilities in the theme park. There were a few merchandise carts present. American Dream will feature a good helping of the trendy pop- up stores that have been branded asDream Pops. The
remainder of this cavernous facility was boarded up with colorful facades. You could look into but not enter the soon to open Dreamworks waterpark and the garden court area. First year attendance is projected to reach 40
million people, but some believe it will subsequently grow to 80 million. Its sister park in Minnesota, Mall of America, does 30 million visitors per year in a metro area of just two million. The metro area for the American Dream is 25 million people. If the Mall of
Its riders weave in and out of a forest of steel columns, opening up remarkable visuals unlike anything they have ever seen. It is the tallest and longest full-circuit, free-spinning coaster in the world, with a height: 85 feet (28 m) and a track length of 2,247 feet (685 m). The 92 foot (28 m) tall Legends of the Hidden
Temple is the world’s tallest ropes course. It consists of a custom six pole, five level Sky Trail Explorer and an integrated four pole, three level Sky Trail Seeker.
America ratio holds for American Dream, one might expect annual attendance of 300 million visitors per year. That’s simply is not possible and would cause all attractions to be by reservations only. It is expected that 50% of the visitors will come from the local area and the rest will be tourists with 25% domestic and 25% international travelers. American Dream will be highly attractive to families visiting New York City. With young children there are not enough activities to fill up an entire week in the city, so being just five miles away American Dream is perfect complimentary destination.

Tourism impact American Dream is expected to have a significant impact on regional tourism. It is a one-of-a-kind destination where guests will be able to go skiing in
the summer and surfing in the winter. Visitors will be able to shop, dine, and play in one location. The area is zoned for 3,500 hotel rooms and an announcement about the next phase of AD’s expansion is expected soon. With its close proximity to New York City, it is expected that many families traveling to Manhattan will spend a day at American Dream during their visit to the area. It will also provide a profound tourism
impact on Northern New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and New York’s Hudson Valley due to the synergistic relationship of all of the attractions and lodging at less cost than in the City). Within a 50 ro 75 mile radius of American Dream there are casino hotels, outdoor recreation opportunities including zip lining, tubing, and canoeing on the Delaware
River, scenic areas, the mid-Hudson pedestrian bridge, outlet shopping, West Point, ski areas,
waterpark hotels, Dorney Park, Six Flags Great Adventure, the Jersey shore, and the biggest Legoland theme park in the world, opening this July.
