Termtimemaintenance for hard sport

Te rts floors – yes, it’s’s possible!

One of Junckers’ Approved Contractors, GL Floors, were quick to develop a new way of working with schools by introducing a 2-10pm maintenance regime for hardwood sports floors, used as part of the Junckers 25 YearWarranty schemes they were contracted to do.

Arriving to set up and prepare at 2pm to be ready to start immediately when the last lesson finishes, by 8pm, the floor had gone through a thorough deep cleaning process, including a full mechanical abrasion, and had a coat of High Performance Sport lacquer applied. Thanks to the quick drying and curing properties of Junckers’ specialist lacquer, the sports hall could reopen for normal use the following morning at 8am. GL Floors has been using the method for a number of years with enormous success.

With this new regime, schools can rest assured their sports floors are regularly maintained and cared for to ensure safety for pupils and maximis e longevity of the floor. There is no need to face disruption to lesson plans and other activities, nor is there any chance of essential maintenance work being delayed due to flooring contractors being too busy during a precious few weeks a year. Thanks to this new method, it is no longer necessary to undertake essential maintenance work during the school holidays or face disruption during term time. If yo wo

necessary maintenance work to their schools’ sports floors. Finding a flooring contractor who is not already booked up during the school holidays can be a challenge and may at times lead to essential work not being carried out within the recommended time frame. Enter a brand new service – a full maintenance regime for hardwood sports floors during term time.

Regular, best practice maintenance work on hardwood sports floors requires routine cleaning

and over coating with lacquer to ensure the floor maintains its slip resistance, which is essential for safety; to improve the aesthetic quality of the floor; to protect the line markings from unnecessary wear and to avoid expens refurbishment costs likely to happen if

not maintained properly, leading to costly, out of commission time. As part of its commitment to offering the best quality sports flooring systems on the market, Junckers offers a unique care scheme through its ApprovedMaintenance Contractors, where regular maintenance work to the floor is planned and carried out by professional flooring contractors to exacting standards, to ensure floor safety and optimum performance throughout its lifespan.

Traditionally, the short window of opportunity to complete the necessary works was during school holidays in order to accommodate lacquer drying time. This short working window lead to a colossal demand for resources, which i lead to essential projects being postpo direct consequence, some floors became

neglected and the cost of future refurbishment or even replacement was significantly increased. To address this problem, Junckers Technical Department worked to develop a professional floor lacquer that dried and cured quickly, so the essential sports floor maintenance work could take place in an evening shift during normal term time. The solution was High Performance Sport lacquer, which dries in a matter of hours, but more importantly, reaches 90%full cure within 12 hours under normal conditions.
