Highlights from the UK education sector 13 VIEWS

With comedian Paul Kerensa, and Patrick Hayes, Director at BESA

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today. March is Education Show month, and with the chaos caused by Storm Emma and “The Beast from the East” now thankfully behind us, we look ahead to the show. The Education Show is a favourite of mine, combining as it does good old- fashioned classroom resources with high tech school solutions, great seminars and some fantastic opportunities for CPD. We’re exhibiting at the show as well, so please do make sure you pop by to say hello. Also in the issue this month, our Feature Focus pieces take an in-depth look at recruitment, not just from the point of view of the candidate looking to make the next move, but also from the point of view of the school, looking to recruit the best talent for the job.

We open up a new section this month shining a spotlight on the many aspects of SEND, and I’m delighted to welcome to the magazine Jo Dilworth of LGfL, and Kate Sarginson, Assistant Headteacher and former SENCO. Over the coming months you’ll find plenty of useful information in the section, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing it develop.

We have all our regular contributors as always offering insight and advice, as well as a great roster of commenters sharing their thoughts on the world of education. We continue our section on UK education writers, “From the pen of…”, this month featuring comedian, broadcaster and author Paul Kerensa, while, tying in with our focus this month, our section on recruitment has some great jobs for you this issue, so if you’re looking for a new role, or wish to advertise a vacancy, do make sure you get in touch.

Remember, you can get in touch with us via Twitter @EdTodayMag, Facebook and our homepage, as well as by phone or email. We love hearing from you!

Enjoy the issue! Jonathan Swift - Managing Editor
