seen since our inception. It goes to show not only the power of technology in education, but also how much more receptive teachers are to using tech technology in the classroom and beyond. “It’s refreshing to see so many businesses
championing the work of teachers, whilst aimin g to improve their wo moment there is so
much negativity surrounding rk-life balance. At the
the teaching profession in terms of working hours, budget cuts and staff retention, however, events like this remind us that there are an abundance of people, passionate about
education, trying their best to provide solutions that tackle these issues head on.
“Bett never fails to surprise, and as ever, we can’t wait to go back next year to see what new technologies and businesses the ed tech real m has to offer.”

Richard Hunter, managing director at
ConquerMaths, was clearly delighted to take home the award: “Winning this internationally recognised award puts our company ConquerMaths on a global playing field, highlighting our strengths and innovation in educational training and technology. We have always had excellent feedback from students using ConquerMaths, so to have received this award from Bett really is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, who strive to support learners by enabling access to effective and innovative maths learning technology.Whilst one-on-one maths t popular, we believe

Project Flow is a cloud-based interactive touchscreen presentation tool that has been developed from the ground-up to offer teachers a never-before seen approach to lesson planning and delivery. At Bet t, the on-stand presentations demonstrated the key concepts of sharing content to devices, differentiating the lesson and gaining immediate insight into student performance. oj
Of course, it wasn’t all glitz and glamour – for exhibitors like GeneeWorld, offering teachers the opportunity to find out how to automatically differentiate their lessons with its Project Flow software was one of the key reasons they exhibited at Bett this year. oj
Project Flow will hugely reduce teacher
workload during a lesson, allowing them to focus on their students.
The lesson content – which can include information, quizzes, animation, videos,
interactive activities etc. – can then be shared to student devices instantly. What’s unique is in how it approaches differentiation. Differentiation is created from th le esson planning stage, so that groups can be assigned (high ability, pupil premium, EAL etc.), then individual content frames can be automatically distributed to these student devices during the lesson.
So, with one click of a button, teachers can automatically send differentiated versions of

s//activities to students. Traditionally,
teachers have had to manually select which resources to send to which students throughout the lesson, which can be a huge organisational and logistical challenge, and it can also be very difficult not to highlight to students that they are receiving something different to their peers. oject Flow is compatible with any student device – including iPads, Android andWindows platforms, meaning that content can be easily shared with any laptop or tablet in your cl

Colin Bethell, Director at educational virtual reality specialists Veative, noted a move towards VR at the show, something the company has been championing for a while now.
“It has been a year since Veative launched its Veative VR Learn content library of science and mathematics modules in virtual reality for secondary education at Bett 2017. Veative is the content creator and provider, although we also supply a full solution including hardware as it makes it simpler to plug and play. Last year we seemed to be ahead of the times but throughout 2017 hardware has emerged thick and fast and at Bett 2018 we saw many companies offering VR headsets.
“Most notably, this year the “All-in-one” type of headset, which has an integrated processor removing the need for the insertion of a smart phone, was prevalent. This makes so much sense for educational use , and Veative launched wit h such a device a year back. However, we have upgraded our hardware twice in the last year and the current model has a much superior processor and 64GB of memory.
For Naimish Gohil, the CEO and Founder of Satchel, Bett Award winners and the company behind the popular ShowMy Homework software, Bett’s size and role as an industry networking hub bringing together companies of all sizes are its key factors. “Bett has long been the biggest event in ed tech and shows no sign of iving the title up any time soon. Since we started ut in 2011, we’ve exhibited at Bett religiously; ’s always been the industry event with all the ed f b

tech movers and shakers under one roo , ut the thing that stands out the most is the sheer size difference in innovations and companies who stand shoulder to shoulder.
“This year in particular, it was heart-warming to see not only the influx of new companies exhibiting but also the growth of so many we’ve

“Virtual reality definitely had a higher profile at Bett in 2018, and this perhaps shows how the technology is set to influence education. In line with Veative’s experience to date, interest in VR for education has been far greater overseas than in the UK, or perhaps more accurately the interest is here but the purchasing power seems to be lacking. Visitors to our stand at Bett were from all over the world, with a very strong presence from Scandinavia theMiddle East and Asia. Now that many more companies are offering hardware and VR technology is establishing itself in the mainstream we sincerely hope to be able to interact more with schools in the UK too, and we look forward to the year ahead and Bett 2019.”
