Highlights from the UK education sector 13 VIEWS
With author Hope Virgo, and Patrick Hayes, Director at BESA
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today, and this month we find ourselves between two trade shows – the behemoth which is Bett now safely receding into memory, and the more sedate Education Show coming up in March. In the second of our reviews of the former, we speak to five companies who exhibited at the show, to gather their impressions and to find out a little more about their products and services – while, with our eye firmly on the latter, we look ahead to visiting the NEC in March.
Also in the issue this month, we feature a great piece in our ‘View from the classroom’ strand from well-known education journalist Sal McKeown, who speaks to Laurie Cornwell, Executive Head of YPA and The Skills Hub, to find out more about the work Laurie’s schools are doing to improve the educational outcomes of the young people in her care, and to offer advice to practitioners facing similar challenges. It’s full of real-world insight and I recommend you read it. We have all our regular contributors as always offering insight and advice, as well as a great roster of commenters sharing their thoughts on the world of education. We continue our section on UK education writers, “From the pen of…”, this month featuring child mental health advocate Hope Virgo, while our section on recruitment has some great jobs for you this issue, so if you’re looking for a new role, or wish to advertise a vacancy, do make sure you get in touch.
Remember, you can get in touch with us via Twitter @EdTodayMag, Facebook and our homepage, as well as by phone or email. We love hearing from you!
Enjoy the issue! Jonathan Swift - Managing Editor
