SHOW PREVIEW

Biggest show yet!

CI: Hi Dennis! Thank you for taking the time to chat with us. SBC Summit Barcelona is being advertised as SBC’s biggest-to-date conference and tradeshow — could you tell me more about the upcoming Summit? DA: Always a pleasure. SBC Summit Barcelona is our fl agship event. Last year’s conference and trade show got incredible feedback from all the attendees, but we were restrained in terms of the number of people we could host. This year, we’re not, and we are about to make the best out of it. SBC Summit Barcelona is our biggest-to-date event, not just because the exhibition fl oor will feature more than 200 companies or because we will have over 350 top industry executives sharing their insights with the audience. It is our biggest event mainly because of its global outreach and the fact that all industry verticals will be represented.

CI: Let’s talk about the exhibition fl oor. Who can the attendees hope to meet? DA: The main goal this year is to make it easy for the attendees to identify relevant leads for their business. We have split the exhibition fl oor into fi ve separate zones — sports betting, casino & iGaming, affi liate, media and marketing, payments & compliance and emerging tech, blockchain and metaverse. Everyone comes to the show for different reasons — some companies are looking to meet operators, some affi liates, and some are looking for a new payment solution or extra exposure for their company. Some of them are looking for all the above. SBC Summit Barcelona is a fantastic opportunity to connect with all these people and types of companies. We will have operators, affi liates, media representatives, payment providers, sportsbook suppliers, CRM solutions, game providers, responsible gambling experts, investors, and start-ups — everyone is going to be there.

CI: The agenda for the upcoming SBC Summit Barcelona event looks impressive. What are some of your personal highlights? DA: Our conference team has done a great job bringing on board some of the most respected professionals in the industry.

Our industry is hugely dynamic, and it’s really all about

constantly learning, evolving, adapting to the new realities and innovating. This is why developing a comprehensive conference agenda has always been one of our top priorities at SBC.

20 SEPTEMBER 2022

SBC Summit Barcelona 2022 promises great things, says Dennis Algreen, Marketing Director at SBC

We will have Shay Segev, CEO of the world-leading sports

entertainment company DAZN Group, joining us to share his thoughts on the convergence of the worlds of entertainment, media, and sports betting Carsten Koerl, the CEO and Founder of Sportradar, will also share his outlook on global markets and his vision for the future of tech and data. We will also have the iconic Molly Bloom joining us for a

keynote session. The best-selling author is widely known for organising high-stakes poker games for the rich and famous — we’re talking names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affl eck and Tobey Maguire. Her story made it onto the big screen, with Jessica Chastain portraying her character in ‘Molly’s Game.’ Molly Bloom is a legendary fi gure, and I’m pretty sure all delegates are excited to hear what she has to say.

CI: Apart from the exhibition fl oor and the conference, what are some other highlights of SBC Summit Barcelona? DA: Plenty of highlights, really. Our Barcelona event is not just about the trade show or the conference content — it has so much more to offer. It is all about creating an unforgettable experience, and I have to say we’re pretty good at it. On Tuesday, we will host the SBC Football Championship,

where twenty football teams from the industry will compete in a series of friendly matches at RCDE Stadium, home of the Espanyol football team. Gaizka Mendieta, a former Spain midfi elder who played for Valencia, Lazio, Barcelona, and Middlesbrough will join us on the pitch. The First Pitch is an exciting opportunity for industry

start-ups to present their product in front of a judging panel of industry professionals and investors. Six start-ups will be selected, and the winner will receive a prize package valued at over €50,000, including a trip to Tallinn powered by Yolo Investments, a promotional package from SBC and a booth at next year’s conference. Then there’s Molly’s Game. We’re bringing in 100 industry

C-levels to play in a poker tournament hosted by Bloom. The winner will donate €10,000 (provided by great.com) to their chosen charity. Finally, the SBC Awards – eventually a celebration of our industry. The winners in the 45 categories will be announced in front of 1,000 industry guests at the majestic Palau National.
