BOLIVIA – La directora de la AJ denuncia amedrentamiento de operadores ilegales
La directora ejecutiva de la Autoridad de Fiscalización del Juego (AJ), Dra. Jessica Saravia Atristaín, denunció acciones de amedrentamiento por parte de dueños de casas de juego ilegales, quienes pretenden intimidar a los servidores públicos para que dejen de realizar las acciones de intervención. “Queremos dejar en claro que ningún mensaje ni
declaraciones infundadas nos harán bajar los brazos en la lucha contra la ilegalidad, nuestra misión es clara y las acciones que realizamos en operativos de intervención están totalmente amparadas en la Ley 060 y Decretos reglamentarios”, declaró la Dra. Saravia Atristaín. Mostrando imágenes de cámaras de seguridad de las casas de juego en Santa Cruz, la titular de la AJ señaló que tales lugares tuvieron vía libre durante el gobierno de Añez, y se han munido de equipos de monitoreo para advertir la presencia de los servidores públicos, trasladar las máquinas de juego a otros lugares y de esta forma evitar la intervención y decomiso correspondiente. Manifestando también que el juego ilegal no solo le quita
ingresos al Estado, sino que al no estar controlado, la directora de AJ indicó que estos locales trabajan de forma clandestina y sin control de tiempo en el juego, ni control de cantidad de dinero apostado, generando problemáticas sociales como la ludopatía que es la adicción al juego.
BOLIVIA – AJ Chief denounces intimidation by illegal operators
Bolivia’s Executive Director of Autoridad de Fiscalización del Juego (AJ), the country’s gambling regulator, Dr Jessica Saravia Atristaín, has denounced actions of intimidation by owners of illegal gambling houses that have the intention of physically coaxing civil servants to stop intervention actions of illegal gambling houses in the country. “We want to make it clear that no message or unfounded statements will make us lower our arms in the fight against illegality. Our mission is clear and the actions we carry out by closing illegal gambling operations are fully protected by Law 060 and Regulatory Decrees,” said Dr Saravia Atristaín. With a presentation of
images from security cameras of illegal gambling houses in Santa Cruz, the AJ Chief said that such places had had a free rein during the Añez government and have been armed with monitoring equipment to warn of the presence of civil servants, moving the gaming machines to different
locations and thus avoiding the corresponding intervention and confiscation by the authorities. Also, stating that illegal gambling not only takes
away income from the State, but is also not controlled, the AJ executive director said that those premises work clandestinely and without control on gambling time or control of the amount of money wagered, generating social problems such as gambling addiction.
